Growing Minds to Feed the Future
Growing Minds
to Feed the Future.
Putting agriculturally accurate books into the hands of young people in our county's schools and libraries, one classroom at a time.
Seven years and counting.
Seven years ago, when Cody Farms Dairy turned 150, we launched Growing Minds to Feed the Future as a way to share the values of farming and agriculture with the next generation.
Imagine a future where the hands that cultivate the land are many, and the hearts that care for our world are even more.At Farmstead 1868 LLC, we believe in growing more than just crops, cows, and lavender. We're growing young minds to embrace farming and agriculture as a calling. This project is our way of putting that belief to work in our own community, starting with the kids and educators of Madison County, New York.
Three ways we reach kids.
Each pillar is designed to meet young people where they already are: in the library, in the classroom, or standing right in the field.
Books in Schools
We fund agriculturally accurate books for local schools and libraries so kids grow up with stories that reflect real farming, not old cliches.
Field Trips to the Farm
We bring students out to Farmstead 1868 for hands-on visits. Rows of lavender, working equipment, and a chance to ask a farmer anything.
Curriculum for Educators
We provide teachers with practical curriculum tools that make farming and agriculture accessible in the classroom, no farming background required.
One book, one field trip, one classroom at a time.
Growing Minds to Feed the Future runs on the generosity of people who believe agricultural literacy matters. Every donation goes directly to books, transportation for school visits, and curriculum materials for our local classrooms.
