Cazenovia to host inaugural Lavender Festival

Celebrate the beauty and fragrance of lavender at Farmstead 1868

Enjoy Cazenovia’s first Lavender Festival on July 6th from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. at the picturesque Farmstead 1868, located at 4690 Shephards Road, Cazenovia.

“You no longer have to travel to Provence and the south of France to experience the beauty and benefits of lavender. However, after strolling through our fields you will feel transported a world away.” said Monica Cody, owner of Farmstead 1868.

This festival celebrates the historic farm’s blooming lavender fields. Visitors can stroll through rows of fragrant lavender, learn about the plant’s many uses, and shop lavender products and handcrafted goods.The festival includes more than 20 local artisans, food trucks and live music.

“We’re thrilled to share the beauty of our lavender fields with the community,” Cody said. “Lavender offers so many benefits. This festival is a wonderful way to experience its sights, smells, and flavors. Whether you already love lavender or are just looking for a new way to relax, we expect the festival to become a popular annual event.”

Highlights of the Cazenovia Lavender Festival include:

  • U-pick lavender: Cut your own fresh lavender bouquets straight from the fields
  • Handcrafted artisan vendors: Shop lavender soaps, lotions, culinary items, pottery, jewelry, clothing and more from more than 20 area vendors
  • Educational exhibits: Learn about lavender’s uses, honey bees, stress management and floral arranging with small classes (pre-registration is required)
  • Kids’ activities: Lavender-themed crafts and face-painting
  • Food trucks and lavender beverages
  • Live music: Enjoy acoustic performances throughout the day
  • Chair Massage (advance reservation required)

Festival tickets must be purchased in advance at TinyURL.com/CazLavenderFest24. Cost is $15 for adults (admission includes a pre-picked lavender bundle), $12 (admission includes a u-pick lavender bundle), and parking is $5 per carload. Parking is limited (carpooling is advised) and advance ticket sales are required. Kids 5 and under are free but do require a pre-purchased ticket. Classes and chair massage reservations can be booked in advanced and spaces are limited. The festival will take place rain or shine.
