The "Kelly Effect"

Let me tell you about my girl Kelly. Kelly pulled in on a bad day with a bottle of wine and a box of chocolate chip cookies, sat on our porch to talk while kids ran ferrule this summer, and was the kind of friend we all need. She is a "come as you are friend," and makes me feel comfortable if you are dressed to go out on the town or are covered in 2-day old baby puke and dirt from the fields. She welcomes you to feel comfortable in your own skin.

Our farm is a 'come as you are' place. Come when you're stressed, come when you're lonely, come and be. It's a place away from the hustle and bustle of silvery bells and city sidewalks where the gentle clanking of cows moving between stalls, tractors humming on the road, and the faint smells of lavender or silage (or cow poop) make you feel grounded with the earth the way we were intended to be.

In this giving season, while we are trying so hard to make everything perfect and special with the winter winds pulling us indoors, my hope is that we all remember that what is most perfect and special is the every day moments that we're together. Living in community, giving grace and supporting each other no matter where we each are in our walks is the greatest gift.

So this holiday season, consider being the "Kelly Effect," and show up for each other. Come as you are and be in the moment. We're looking forward to sharing the fields again with you all in the summer, so you can come as you are, to relax, rejuvenate, and reconnect.
